Portreath Nippers Newsletter Oct 21
Our new Nipper Managers, Matt and Katy are looking forward to welcoming you back as we return to training at Redruth Swimming pool next Fri 15th October 2021
Sessions are as follows:
5.30pm – 6.15pm U8, U9, U10 Girls (Born 2014 / 2013 /2012)
6.15pm – 7.00pm U8, U9, U10 Boys (Born 2014 / 2013 /2012)
7.00pm – 7.45pm U11, U12, U13 Girls (Born 2011 / 2010 /2009)
7.45pm – 8.00pm U11, U12, U13 Boys (Born 2011 / 2010 /2009)
We will be operating a one-way system so please arrive via the fire exit changed and ready to go where your child will be met by the coaches. They will then leave the pool out of the main door and are welcome to use the changing rooms.
Note
Please do not attend if child has a temperature or is showing any symptoms of COVID 19
We advise you child to wear a swim hat and goggles, and although not essential for the first session, they will need swim fins for training in the pool. (Please see below for examples)
The first session back we will assess last year’s Sandhoppers and under 8s to make sure they meet the swim requirement of 50m (2 lengths of the pool)
Anyone who is unable to complete the distance will be invited back in January have another go.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, queries, or concerns about this but once again, we strongly advise your children participate in swim lessons alongside nipper training.
As you may be aware, we have extremely long waiting lists, so we do encourage regular attendance.
We understand that children cannot always come every week, but we ask if your child is going to miss three consecutive weeks you speak to our managers Matt or Katy in advance.
Throughout the year nippers will be invited to take part in various SLSGB Regional and National competitions both on the beach and in the swimming pool.
It is not compulsory to enter, but we have seen nippers grow in confidence through these events and it builds an enthusiastic sense of team spirit and camaraderie.
We will give you more information as and when dates and locations are published by SLSGB
As always please ask us or any of the coaches if there is anything you are unsure about, or you can email Portreathnippers@outlook.com with your query.
Kind regards
Matt and Katy
SWIM FINS
A mid length fin is preferable rather than the short swim fins. Please ask the coaches for further advice, and don’t forget to label them clearly with your child’s name
